Chapter 5 treats the all-important role of oral presentations in science. This chapter asks you to explore some of the different methods professional scientists use to organize and present scientific information at professional conferences. It includes discussion of conference proposal abstracts, methods of preparing oral presentations, methods of delivery, the use of visual aids in oral presentations, the preparation of conference posters, and conference proceedings. Because of the "physical" nature of oral presentations, special emphasis is placed on helping you discover "comfortable" methods of organization and delivery.
