Introduction

Welcome to the Instructor Resources Section of the Companion Website for Writing in the Sciences. Except for the sections "Assignment Sequencing" and "Sample Course Outline," the material in this section is in addition to the course and exercise advice found in the Instructor's Manual. (For the Instructor's Manual, go to Supplements Central. If you are a first-time user, click on Register to create your own personal Pearson Education account.)

Thus, this section of the Companion Website is meant to supplement the Instructor's Manual. Instructors will also want to examine the sections of annotated professional science journals, general science journals, funding agencies, and database sources contained in Part II of the Student Resources section.

Besides the material contained in the Student Resources section of the Companion Website, in this Instructor Resources section instructors will find suggestions for course sequencing; a sample syllabus; tips on teaching the research report; links to sources for sample case studies that can be used for major projects, as well as some suggestions for how to use them; an editorial evaluation rubric for professional manuscripts; and useful links to some professional organizations and Web sites.
