Writing and Reading in the Sciences
Objectives

The sciences are dedicated to exploring the origins, makeup, and distinctive features of things. In this chapter, you will be shown the empirical nature of scientific inquiry. In the four sections of this chapter, you are introduced to writing in the sciences; reading science textbooks and scientific journals; typical science assignments, including lab reports and literature reviews; and a thoroughly analyzed sample lab report. You will also be provided with a comprehensive list of reference materials in the sciences.
