  2. What is the problem is the author addressing? What has the author done to convince readers that the problem is real and that it is significant (worth solving) and solvable? Do you think the problem is significant?
  3. What is the author's thesis statement? Write it below. On a scale of 1 to 10 (1 being the weakest and 10 the strongest), how would you rate this thesis statement? Explain your rating.
  4. What, in brief, is the solution to problem presented? What can the author do to make your solution section stronger?
  5. Does the paper have a justification section? Are you, as a reader, satisfied with it? What could the author do to improve it?
  6. Where does the author address alternative views or solutions? Do you think the author does enough to convince readers that his or her solution is the best one possible?
  7. What is the best sentence in the paper? Why is it so good? What is the weakest sentence in the paper? What can the author do to improve this sentence?
  8. Which paragraph is the best? Why? Which is the weakest? Why?
  9. What, specifically, do you think the author needs to do to improve the paper on revision?
