Thinking Through Production

Find a current news story that seems to you to be about a communication failure. Use the seven steps for analyzing communication in Chapter 1 to analyze the situation and to develop several recommendations for how the failure could have been avoided in the first place or could be resolved now. Don’t worry about stretching into national or international issues; the purposes for doing this are to get practice in applying the steps broadly but also to recognize how using the steps can help you see patterns and possibilities in communication situations.
