Although we approach rhetorical analysis more in Section 3 of the textbook, this website gives further—and very clear—description of ethos, pathos, and logos.

This is a guide to rhetorical terminology. What might be of most use is the list of rhetorical figures of speech on the right-hand side of the webpage. There are lots of examples, and although the language can often seem fusty (and the original Latin names a block to remembering what the figures mean), playing with the figures to make your own versions of them can help you invent new possibilities for your own writing and arguments.
