These posters come from a traveling exhibition put together by the Smithsonian Institute on the history of posters in the United States. Political and advertising posters are included, as well as essays and explanations on the place of posters in the United States.

Poland has a tradition of poster making, and this website was developed and is maintained by someone who has been a curator of posters in museums. The collection of movie posters about American movies can make clear how much our understanding of what a movie is about depends on where we live.
Okay, so maybe you don’t want to look at lots of illustrations of tractors and other farm implements, but these posters are interesting because of their similarities and differences to modern posters.
