In this module, you will learn the value of making good word choices. The right word can really "make or break" a sentence. You want to be sure your reader understands what you are trying to say, and using the best word can make all the difference. You will also learn the importance of using Standard Written English. You will also come to recognize and avoid dialect, regionalisms, slang and jargon, pretentious writing, biased language, and trite expressions in most academic writing. Examples and exercises will help you learn to choose your words wisely.
