Rewrite the following paragraphs so that their sentences are smoother and the relationship between their ideas is clearer.

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow wrote a poem. It is called Paul Reveres Ride. It is filled with historical inaccuracies. The date was April 18, 1775. Two young men were sent on horseback. They were to alert the American rebels between Boston and Lexington. One was Paul Revere. The other was an unknown shoemaker. His name was William Dawes. The commander of the Colonial forces was Joseph Warren. He sent Dawes along the land route to spread the word. Warren dispatched Revere along the water route. Revere got sidetracked. He was finally captured by the British near the end of his ride. Dawes rode first. He rode the longest distance. He carried out his assignment. Today no one remembers him. The only one that is remembered is Paul Revere.

Little League baseball originated in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. The year was 1939. There were three teams. Today the program is worldwide. It provides boys and girls from eight to eighteen with supervised sports activity. It involves over forty countries and thousands of leagues, in addition to adult volunteers. The first official Little League World Series was held in 1947. It was held in Williamsport. The popularity of the Little League World Series spread rapidly. This was due to the success of the first tournament.
